Trauma-informed care is not a single therapy — it's a framework that shapes every aspect of treatment at our facility. Our clinical team is trained to recognize how trauma affects the brain, body, and behavior, and to create a safe environment where healing can occur without re-traumatization.
Within this framework, we use several evidence-based trauma therapies. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer trigger intense emotional and physical responses. During EMDR sessions, your therapist guides you through sets of bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements) while you briefly focus on the traumatic memory. Over time, the memory loses its emotional charge and becomes easier to manage.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is another core modality, particularly effective for PTSD. CPT helps you examine and reframe the beliefs you developed as a result of trauma — beliefs like "the world is never safe" or "it was my fault" — replacing them with more balanced perspectives that support recovery rather than driving substance use.
